Echinacea’s use is dated at least since 1600 A.C. in America.

The last 20 years Echinacea has become one of the most popular plants because it is believed to stimulate the immune system and further improve the body’s response and defenses against all kinds of infections. Clinical studies have shown that echinakini, a glycoside contained in the plant, fights bacteria as a natural antibiotic. This explains the effectiveness of the plant against infections, inflammations, and of course against the common cold and flu.

The use of Echinacea is not recommended for nursing women, children under the age of 2, and people who suffer from tuberculosis and/or other autoimmune diseases. Children under the age of 8 should take half the dosage. Echinacea should not be used for more than 6 consequent weeks.
