rice fermentation product (monascus purpureus) used for centuries as a 'pharmaceutical foodstuff' 'which assists in the bloodstream. Contains 'vegetable statins' the monacolin with main representative the monacolin K, which function as the HMG-Co reductase inhibitors (enzyme that controls the biosynthesis of cholesterol in liver cells. Other active ingredients are sterols, isoflavones and monounsaturated fatty acids.

GUGGUL (COMMIPHORA MUKUL). Plant of the Burseraceae family. Since the resin of the plant isolated guggulsterones (E and Z stereoisomers) which act as antagonists of receptor farsenoid-x and leads to reduced cholesterol synthesis in the liver. The guggulsterones operate as plant sterols compete with cholesterol in the reabsorption. Therefore prevent the deposition of cholesterol in the arteries.

Soy isoflavones: have antioxidant activity. Help blood vessels dilate reducing the concentration of LDL in the arteries. They enhance the secretion of bile, thus helping in the removal of cholesterol from blood.

Inositol: Like choline promotes extraction of fat from the liver. It helps prevent hardening of the arteries and is important in the formation of lecithin and the metabolism of fats and cholesterol.
